Ten Area Churches Accept GRACE® Magazine’s
 HEALTHY CHURCH CHALLENGE

For the past decade, Birchett & Associates has been dedicated to the lifestyles and interests of Memphis women of color through publication of GRACE® Magazine and the annual Sisterhood Outreach Summit and Showcase.

Throughout the years, a constant focus for GRACE® has been to encourage its readers to take a proactive approach to their health. Founder and Publisher Tina Birchett has created the Healthy Church Challenge, which will be sponsored exclusively by Baptist Memorial Health Care.  It is designed to raise consciousness about the dangers of obesity and its devastating effect - especially in the African- American community- and to put people on the road to better lives through better health.

The Challenge is limited to ten local churches here is the list:

Abundant Grace Fellowship
Breath of Life Christian Center
Brown Missionary Baptist Church
Christ Missionary Baptist Church
Golden Gate Cathedral
Holy Nation Church of Memphis
Mt. Moriah East Baptist Church
New Olivet Baptist Church
Olivet Fellowship Baptist Church
St. Andrew AME Church

Each church will recruit 100 members who will commit to a weight loss program over the next few months.  The first monthly weigh-ins were on January 10th. The last weigh-in will be on June 6th.  Winners will be announced at the 14th annual Sisterhood Outreach Summit & Showcase at the Cook Convention Center on June 6th.

Prizes will be awarded for:
1.  The church with the greatest combined total weight loss
2.  The individual with the most overall weight loss
3.  One individual within each church with the greatest weight loss

Breath of Life Christian Center, Cummings Street Baptist Church, Golden Gate Full Gospel Baptist Church, Macedonia Baptist Church-Hyde Park, Metropolitan Baptist Church, Mississippi Boulevard Christian  Church, New Direction Christian Church,  New Olivet Baptist Church, St. Augustine
Catholic Church and St. Andrew AME Church
